Vito 110cdi (2002)
So lovely people,
I have been searching forums for days now as my vito goes into limp mode
(51 plated vito but 2002 model 110cdi)
Most threads point to the MAF.... Mine I think doesn't have a MAF so my question is...

Who can list all the reasons why a vito will goto into limp mode (when engine under proper load going up hill)

Air filter
Fuel filter
EGR valve (please not tho thats the expensive bit)
MAF sensor not on my van unless its fitted somewhere completely different!
Which hoses should I look for that could be split. (Photos with arrows would be great!)
The list goes on, these are just a few faults that it could be...

Also which PDF manual on ebay is a good one has anyone bought one that is ALL there and not got bits missing....

That way I could fault find it with laptop open on the pages with pics.
I have never done anything on an engine but after buying this dog I feel only way to have a cheap bill is to do all the simple things I can do myself.
I have got in touch with classcars which is the closest garage with the STAR diagnostic tool.
I will get all filters and stuff changed first then start afresh.

Please bear with me with all my meanderings and questions. I will try to find out the problems using original threads first but there are so many of them it all gets very confusing!

You are doing all the right things. I'm just a casual passer by on here when it comes to fixing stuff. Our techies will be along soon I'm sure.

STAR should give you the answer or at least narrow it down a lot.

Yeah that does look the route.
First will be the filters. As you never know!

It seems poking and prodding does work under a bonnet.
Was doing this at dinner time and noticed a tube connected to a sensor wasn't plugged in anywhere. Found a hole plugged it in.
My Vito now accelerates WELL and doesn't go into limp mode (well it didn't when I give it a blap down dual carriage way)
Could it really have been this simple or am I just having a good day?

Put it down to having a great day.

*update*
Only fault on star was the pressure sensor I reconnected. Was the turbo pressure sensor.
Everything else tickety boo.

My Vito also go on LIMP mode but some time it manage to boost up and left a super black smoke behind like a squid. What could be the issue? Tried to look for loose tube but could not find any yet..advice really appreciated. Azman

Take it to your local star diagnostics garage mate. They will pinpoint it to a few things. Or search vito black smoke limp mode and then worry yourself sick on how many things could be wrong with her.

Lets necro this thread!
My vito every now and again loses acceleration but still revs over 3000 what could the problem be?
With it not going into limp does that mean nothing will show on star?

Looked at another thread and the egr valve isn't to the right hand side of engine.
Could it have anything to do with the intercooler being covered in gunky oil?
