Vito 120 sport x
Hi all, newbie to the merc gang here.

Just bought a Vito sport 2009 but I can't get any of the front interior lights to work and the rear ones to work off the door, only the switch on the dash. Does anybody know of any common problems please? The door courtesy lights work and the dash wakes up when I open the door so it can't be a switch problem and I've checked all the fuses and they seem fine.

Any help appreciated.

Also, when cold on starting the engine turns over approx ten times before firing and the glow light illuminates after starting for 30seconds or so. Would the glow plugs be needed and affect the starting at this sort of temp?

Thanks

Marc

There are multiple button options for what lights illuminate when the doors open. It took me a few minutes with the manual when I got my van to work it out and having got it working as I like i.e. all lights on when any door opens, I haven't touched the setting buttons since.

As for the starting, it sounds like you have either multiple glow plug issues or a control issue…best and easiest was is to find an independent specialist with a STAR system and spend about £30-40 on having the codes read. It will save time in the long run.

As GVM said the way the interior light switches work isn't that obvious ... particularly if you're new to M-B.

The second problem could well be a failed glowplug - I've had two go on mine and those are the symptoms. But getting the codes read will confirm.

Thanks guys, I think I'll get it on a star and see what it says. The reading lights etc don't work on the buttons either.

Thanks

Marc
