Mercedes Benz Vito W447 - 65 reg
Hi,
I own a 65 registration Mercedes Vito W447 114CDI double cab.
The vehicle is losing power going up long gracile inclines and despite dropping down gears from 6th to 5th then 4th, the speed still decreases with no more pressure in each gear and on the rev counter.

There is no problem with acceleration when driving normally in other gears and gets up to 70/80mph fine so don’t think it’s the turbo but I could be wrong.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Matt

Without getting fault codes read it would be guessing.
That can get expensive and still not resolve the issue.

Thanks.
As far as I am aware, there are no fault codes (certainly no lights illuminated on the dashboard) and last time it was plugged in, no error codes came up.

Thanks for responding

Is it possible the diagnostic kit isn't as capable as you expect?
If binding brakes were causing this I would expect them to be glowing hot, but worth eliminating anyway.

Might be worth checking the air filter, but it would be pretty clogged for this.

Which engine?
What mileage?

might well be worth a ring, as this is all just guessing.

Thank you.
It’s the 1.6l engine on a 65 registration and now covered 95K.

I’ll use the link you’ve sent to see if they can give me a price for a proper diagnostic.

Really appreciate it

If your 1.6 is a Renault engine then maybe worth a shot on one of there sites !

I would be tempted to clean the MAP & MAF sensors with electrical contact cleaner.....'Not touching them (just spray) & wiring unplugged.' making sure your air filter is clean. I do this to my Vito, Beemer & little old Audi A2.....as part of my maintaince.

Hello Did you figure out the issue with your van mate I have same issue?
