I keep getting intermittent fault on my W447, it's a 111cdi 2017. Engine light keeps coming and going. I plugged it in and I'm getting P0471 - Exhaust pressure sensor.
It first came on in the morning when outside temperature was about -4. The engine sounded horrible and van had no power at all until the engine got warmed up then it was back to normal.
Now its running fine but this fault keeps appearing then clearing.
Has anybody had this and was it just a bad sensor?

Thanks

Sensor is usually near the egr. Easy to swap out . £50 ish at mb.

Common issue tbh.

You could try soaking the end in Mr,muscle , or use a carbon cleaner .

Just been to Mercedes and they want £159 for the sensor! Crazy. I'm going to try cleaning it first then assess my options.

I had the pressure sensor on my W639 fail quite early on. That was followed by one of the two temperatures sensors (there's one before the DPF and one after), and that had to be drilled out. Those both resulted in permanent limp mode and EML straight away though ... if it's intermittent then cleaning has got to be worth a try.

Luckily it's not gone into limp mode at all but when it first happened it lost all its power and the engine sounded like a bag of hammers. This is the tenth fault in 10 month of owning the van! Mileage is 78k.
Did you get the work done at Mercedes? Euro parts do a sensor for £100 but not sure if it's totally compatible. Yeah I'll try the clean first.

I had the crankshaft position sensor go first, followed by the exhaust pressure sensor. Then the fuel pressure sensor, then EGR valve, then mass airflow sensor. Oh and the exhaust manifolds (3.0 V6) delaminated, wiping out the turbo. And the instrument cluster died. That was all between about 75k and 95k miles. I started off at a good local garage but they spent 2 weeks trying to sort out the EGR valve (their diagnostic system couldn't clear the fault codes properly) so ended up taking it to a dealer after that. They weren't a lot more expensive but much further away. They were quite helpful in the end and gave me a good discount on the new manifolds & turbo (engine out job), and the instrument cluster (a specialist had a couple of goes at repairing that but gave up in the end). I'm in Shropshire now and the nearest dealer is 45 mins drive each way so it's going to a local garage again ... touch wood it's been OK recently, just glowplugs / plug relay / glowplug circuit 'mega fuse' / exhaust centre & rear boxes. Now on 160k miles. At least it's only EE4, so no AdBlue :thumb:

So it looks like I'm going to have a bumpy 20,000 miles 😂 That's quite a list, pleased you got it all sorted. MB is literally a 5 minute drive from me so I'm lucky in that respect. I'm booking it in for a major service in the next couple of weeks, their price isn't too bad £345. I've never used main dealers for servicing, always independent garages. Hopefully Mercedes will actually check how it's running etc. It's a better selling point as well. Mine is ad blue and already had errors with that.

Yep the MB commercial dealers are ok in my experience, the biggest issue I had with the one I used down south (Reading) is that they got really booked up so you could wait a while for a slot in the workshop. Pretty sure they worked 24x7 but the big fleet customers definitely got priority.

Also MB parts/accessories were pretty decent on price ... I got a front & centre rubber mat set for my Dualiner for something crazy like £30. People would pay double that for something unbranded on eBay and think they were getting a bargain.

Funny story though, the local MB car dealership (1 mile away from my house) refused to sell me a paint touch up pen (Jasper Blue metallic, as used on loads of cars) because they weren't allowed to supply parts for 'commercials'!
