I have a 2007 W639 vito. My COMAND system stopped operating after a recent collision and won't stay on for more than about 30 seconds, but I was looking at replacing it anyway.

It's an old vehicle but I expect to keep it a couple more years and I need some kind of audio system and navigation.

There are wonderful selections of 3rd party android-auto/air-play systems on the market but I'm quite convinced that most are trash that will fail in the heat, and in any case I suspect then I have the optic fibre audio system.

I looked at the ALPINE iLX-702D after a recommendation here but it doesn't seem the right size.

I have asked commandonline, and looked at Teyes (but their's doesn't seem to be android-auto even).

I'm looking for someone who can supply and fit a same-size nicely integrated with steering wheel controls, add a reverse camera, and with built-in maps (for if no phone is linked) with android-auto/air-play.

I've been "looking" at replacing the system for nerly 10 years, but now I have to, so I'd be grateful for recommendations or suggestions,

I run a Chinese 9" Android. Pretty much the same is available in the 7" or 8" that have more HU buttons.

It's been in for the last 40k miles.

The maps stored within is down to the app. Google maps doesn't, and need an internet link via a phone.
I've not used it for years but pretty sure Waze will store maps, as would IGO that often comes pre loaded with Chinese.

To save a couple of quids you can buy a DAB+ dongle separately. Mine is in the pull off cover by the passenger door, so the screen mount antenna can reach. SO a USB extension is needed from dongle to HU.
Rear roof mount antennas are better for reception, again their 5m coax won't reach the HU.

The GPS antenna that comes with it can sit below the document pod, as can the wi fi antenna if that's separate and not fitted to the rear of the unit.

Careful with any USB kit around the dash, that'll interfere with the FM, with that antenna being in the front screen.
