Question for you boys, basically my car front doors wouldn't lock or unlock with the key so I bought new handles with keys. Went to change them but when I pulled the old handles off, a small metal bracket fell down into the door and now I don't know how to get it all to fit again?

Right lads here's some Piks

The bracket

How I think it fits onto the handle

This diagram (top left) confirms your thought on location. Part 53 of which there should be 2 in the door.

Ahhhh yh I see, I can kind of see the orientation now so know how it would sit but I can't figure out where the other one would go? As it says quantity 2?

Quantities in Merc parts lists always refer to the total number of said part fitted to vehicle in that location. So...two door handles: x2 parts. Four door car: x4 parts.
Another example for clarity. On a two door car if the drivers door had x20 clips fitted for the trim the parts list would say: x40, referring to both front doors.

Wicked thanks for the replies! Helped a lot!

Removed the bracket altogether to see what happens and hey presto it worked :O hmmm lol that was odd, only on drivers side though. When I push the lock and unlock pin up and down on the passengers side it's just springy and doesn't really engage lock or unlock..??
