I had a leaking water pump, I have now removed it but along the way a few of the bolts / star nuts were casualties.

I now can replace thew water pump (MBF 1022011001), but I cannot get the Electromagnetic fan clutch off the old one.

I had to cut one of the supporting arms to remove the original water pump as the bolt has stripped its head (I am hoping mole grips and heat will get this out of the block).

a couple of questions, will the electromagnetic fan clutch be okay with two of the supports bolted down ?

I have read that the supports are on the earlier fan clutches and the later ones are bolted into place. Is there an alternative water pump I could buy and get the later fan clutch ?

Where is the bast place to get replacement bolts, the star nut that adjusts the Alternator is a bit rough, and the star nuts that held one of the pulleys will need to be replaced.

Thanks

The ninja stars are best gotten from a parts car. For other bolts, just find metric version of grade 8 bolts.

If you have local fixing wholesaler go to them with cash and sample bolt. They probably be around 50-75% cheaper.
Small self tapper by the hand full.

Did you remove viscose fan clutch , and fan blades in one ...by removing the bolts from the flange .
Yes, as far as I can see nothing is bolted to hold the fan clutch onto the water pump. Is it held on with anything else, or just friction and I need to tap it off ?80B30728-F3FC-4830-8049-90D0E72DA634.jpeg

230ce (petrol), pretty sure it does come off. The replacement pump does not have one fitted and it has brackets to attach it.

Just not sure how I remove it.

You need to put another post on here,, but this time put it in the W123 section . And that way you will get more response .Most W123 owners only use that section of the forum for their car model W123 only . .As for the mod on the viscose fan it might mean replacing the water pump to take that other type viscose fan i posted the picture of .Me i would do away with the viscose and fit an electric fan .
