I have a P reg (1996) W124 E220 convertible :bannana: with 110K on the clock. It has lost its power and am thinking of adding a supercharger or turbo to it (w/ engine rebuild). do not want engine swap to a bigger one as it will become to complicated and expensive.

Does anybody know where i can get this done. and what traps to look out for. Any help is grateful.

Thanks Sage Singh

Depending on the power you are looking for and the depth of your pockets I would suggest it would be easier and cheaper to sell the car and buy a slightly older 320 coupe. No mods required and a quicker smoother drive.

If in doubt get a price for yours and then put the £3000 you would have spent on engine mods toward it and buy a hard top e36.......sorted:)

The easiest and cheapest way to increase power would be to fix your and sell it. Buy an E320 cabrio instead.

The amount it will cost for a custom turbo will be £2-3k and then you will have insurance premiums to consider.

Plus if it's lost its power as you say, that could mean the engine's past its best and not worth investing in.

The answer given to most "will this engine fit" or "how do i turbo-charge" questions get answered with "buy a new car", because unless you're doing it for the enjoyment of the project or rarity of the end result it is almost never financially beneficial.

Find a bigger faster better one and buy it :D

Find a 230K car written off and transplant the engine. A lot cheaper than trying to retro fit bits to a worn engine. An engine rebuild will cost in the region of £900.
