Hi, can someone please tell me me the height from the ground to the top of the wheel arches, front and rear.
I'm still dithering about changing the springs, as my car was lowered by a previous owner.
As an aside, I recently watched a YouTube video about the potential areas of the car that are prone to rust. So armed with an aerosol can of Waxoyl. I nervously removed the jacking point covers.....
3 out of 4 still looking good. 😊 4th one just had loose paint and surface rust.
Area under the washer bottle was unmarked😊
All the drain areas were in good condition as well. Feeling rather pleased.

Other key area is where the rear subframe front mounting points attach to the body[ can be hiddden below underseal]-but if the jacking points are ok then its likely they are sound also

My ‘94 A124 E320 Cab looked good underneath but poking around found a few loose/saggy bits of factory underseal. I removed them & best was light corrosion worst (1) was a hole when rust removed. I’ve now started removing all underseal from backseats backward ( nightmare job) & replacing with bilt hamber zinc primer, 2-part mastic paint then their wax. I dropped the rear dub frame & luckily the mounts have surface corrosion only.
Worth a check!

Thanks, but doesn't show the necessary dimension. Think I'll live with it being low and suffer the occasional bang from the front suspension. Although, I'm having a new tyre fitted to the spare in the boot, I may fit this and see how the wheel/ tyre size looks on the lowered suspension.
Having a 195/ 65 15 should lessen thumps and bangs when hitting potholes, compared to 215/35 18

They look nice ...But to keep them you will have to put up with the bad roads , just look out for pot holes ~~~~ they used to have yellow paint around them so you can spot them [hole ] lol

Bought a set of standard wheels, it's hard work looking out for potholes all the time.

Yes i understand .,and roads have been bad like this for yerars . I did all my car, inside and out with wax that my friend bought from his work ..Thy had vats of it they used to dip chain in for ship anchors and oil rig chains .

I use original wheels along with Landsail tyres ...had enough of exspensive rubber. Both my car and the wifes Micra are shod in them nowView attachment 161670
Tyres are a dilemma for me. I did 2,000 miles in the last year.
Buying premium tyres at about £90 to £100 with A or B rolling resistance ( better mpg) with similar wet braking performance, when they will have degraded before being anywhere near wearing out. Am I better off buying cheaper tyres? Premium will cost be about £400 for 4.

I used Landsail for years on the old taxi, thought they were great!

Any national chains stock them?
These were the premium tyres I am considering / dithering over.

Halfords do them, better fuel efficiency and braking and noise than I expected. 😊
That's good, cheaper than the Goodyears I was looking at as well. I've ordered a set of wheel bolts, as I'm not sure what length the ones fitted to my wider wheels are. The car came with a few in the boot, two different lengths. 🤔

There is no fixed ride height for a w124, it all depends on what equipment the car was ordered with. 18" alloys on a w124 are not a problem in themselves but having a tyre that small is, assuming those are 8" wide it should be at least 225/40/18 on the front.
