Greetings. First post on the forum.

I have recently acquired a '92 300ce 24v with around 118k on the clock. It appears to run fine apart from an occasional faltering on full throttle.

What happens is it'll pull cleanly until around 5k rpm then the revs will start to bounce up and down, almost like a limiter. If I lift off and open the throttle again it will then pull cleanly again and go past 5k.

Only happens on a wide/fully open throttle. It will pull 4th gear (all I have!) cleanly all the way up to 110 (6.5k rpm?) or so on the motorway no problem if I don't give it too much gas.

Seems to happen most often if I make the gearbox kick down. Sometimes it'll pull 2nd or 3rd fine full throttle but then falter on the next gear once the 'box has changed up. Does not happen every time I use full throttle or use kick down though.

Happens in Sport or Economy mode. I have left it in E since after the first day I got the car.

Have been using the car to do a 116mile round trip commute for the past fortnight. So if its something that may have cleared with use I think it should have done by now! (The car had been off the road SORN for approx 3 months)

Any advice much appreciated.

Cheers. I thought as much after reading the Haynes manual that helpfully came with the car courtesy of the previous owner.

Wanted to check if there were any other possible causes before getting the tool kit out.
