Hi Guys,Hope you are all keeping well?, Its been a while since i was able to get to the forum, was missing it, have been very busy, hopefully will now keep more in touch, enough of me, I have been eyeing this W124 300d, now for almost 2 yrs, belongs to a friend of a friend, which i thought ill buy and sell it to another friend who is interested.,So i finally bought it, - Big mistake after driving it for a while and filling up the diesel, especially with the very lousy school run i have to do everyday(traffic), I was totally amazed, Now iam not selling this car,Told my friend sorry-will look for another. All of a sudden driving in this heat, i noticed a sort of a vibrating/knocking noise developed, sounds like its coming from the enginebay, and sometimes it would travel in the dashboard, took it straight away to the specialist, had a good look, but couldn't find where its coming from. The specialist told me to drive it for a while and see how it goes, but for some reason he said lets look at it one more time, put the car on the ramp, he went to the washroom and came out and told his man to replace the engine mount - guess what - that sorted it out, phew what a relief. - I think the washroom did the trick!! - Just joking.
I thought i might share this with you guys, it might just sort out someones problem here.Amazingly what a faulty engine mount which was replaced less than a year ago, could do,would have never guessed - I must give it to the garage owner - he is good and knows his stuff.

Having had a number of W124's its fair to say that at this age the engine mounts will most likely have had it, especially if they are still on the orginals.

I had to have both mounts done on my 300D, as I was getting a rough vibration at low engine speeds.

So basically what I'm trying to say is that if any other W124's owners out there have a vibration at idle or at low speed or very commonly when the car is in reverse, then its likely to be your engine mounts. Not a hard job for an indy and just looking at the bill it cost me £117.94 for the mounts and £80 labour to get them done and it was as smooth as silk after that.
