How does one replace the clear plastic part with the P R N D 1 2 on my 1995 W124 E220 estate?
Its the part that should be illuminated, but has either been melted by the illuminating bulb, or someone dropped a cig end on it!!
Messes up an otherwise lovely centre console.
I have a centre console storage box, which I assume has to be removed to allow access to the screw which allows removal of the walnut surrounding the gear selector.
I've replaced the wood on my 300E some years ago, but wondered if this plastic part could be replaced, or whether i'd need to replace the entire gear selector assembly.
Help gratefully received!

Just pull out the trim round the base of the selector assembly and remove the screws holding the top panel in. You'll need to slacken the lock nut on the lever and unscrew the lever so that the top panel can be removed & replaced

Thanks Nick! Brill. Do you happen to have one in stock?
I just bought paint, grille, walnut box top from you on ebay, and wondered if I could gift you payment via paypal and you could stick it in with the post with the other parts?

Oh, and yeah what about the (E) & (S) switch - Is it obvious? Does this just clip off? I'd hate to break it by ham-fisted attempts at removal when the time comes?

The E&S switch just pops up & off.

The dealer is sometimes surprisingly cheap for new little bits like the clear plastic PRNDL cover & E&S switch.

And others.
