Hi can anyone advise how difficult it is to gain access to the window mechanism on my 300ce please. The motor appears to be working but I think the glass has become detached from the arm mechanism. Thanks in advance Ade.

Its the rear windows and panel should have said.

If you are small, agile, and strong its easy. I'm big, creaky and feeble, so this isn't my favourite task.
The rear seat squab has a red push catch visible to rellease it. Removing this gives access to the screws securing the seat back, which the pushes out upwards.
The lower sear belt fixing is one bolt, easy, but don't lose the spring that holds iit flat to the floor when not in use - and good luck refitting it.
The only real problem, however, is the inner window seal. This should clip to the top edge of the trim alongside the seat, but often these clips are broken or missing, in which case it may be glued to the trim. If this is the case, care is needed. If its really neatly done and looks good it is, just, possible to take the two out as one piece, but its awkward. If its a clumsy bodge then you need to cut the glue without cutting the trim.
There is a heavy trim on the door opening edge which just pulls free, and you may have a plastic pocket liner alongside the seat. Screws for this and the side panel are clearly visible.
Wiggle the side panel free and you're there.
Technically easy, but leave plenty of time.

Thanks for that. I am 105kgs and strong but not that agile lol.
I was chuffed to nuts as the old girl passed mot today, I managed to get the passenger side windows working but was then gutted that the mechanism is working but leaving the window behind. Don't suppose you might know how the glass is attached to the mechanism and if there might be some way it can be re-attached without stripping everything out. I am dying to take her out again tomorrow but with no gas in the aircon and windows that don't work it will be like sitting in a microwave.

Sorry - dont remember that one, but it sounds like long disuse has turned your window seals to glue. I use aero wipes on mine, but I suspect that something like washing-up liquid would serve as well, and maybe avoid dismantling.

I have these instructions Ade, if you will PM your email address I can send them through...

If somebody can get them to you earlier then the numbers you need are 67-400 together with 68-456, 91-508 & 67-420.

It is probably a good time to think about what type of lubricant you are supposed to use in the window tracks, sure be open to advice on this as MB don't seem to have one...

No.

But if you need them PM me and I'll send them through.

I am going to tackle it the weekend. Still can't understand why just the one window has decided to come out of the track, unless the glass was stuck solid to the window rubbers due to lack of use. Will keep everyone posted as to my progress, if there is any lol. Ade
