w124 crystal lights forUK

If you really want them just for cosmetic appearance for day driving only then why not fit the originals for the MOT and then swap them for the crystal ones after...;)

emm,I don't fancy swapping headlights at night.
I was wondering how the change LHD lights to RHD when people import US cars ?

They buy new ones ....

They buy new ones ....
How are the headlamps converted on vehicles not designed or manufactured for use in RHD markets?

EDIT: you'll have noticed the slight joke that I put the retrofit xenons onto my car in order to pass the MOT as the factory ones were broken... ;)

Don't know , tell me !

Presumably they can be adjusted on those sort of cars ...... I didn't think you could adjust LHD lights to RHD pattern on a w124 ...

Adjusted how? This is exactly what we're discussing!

If you are importing a LHD car for which there is no RHD counterpart, what happens to the headlamps? I'm sure all those old Yank cars you see kicking about have passed the SVA etc so must have valid headlamps for use in left-hand-traffic but you can bet there is no RHD headlamp equivalent for them. How were they comverted? :)

well done ADY1983, that solves captainb's issue. available in rhd. will be interesting to see what they look like once fitted!

I've been looking at those on ebay too . . just don't know how they would look . . someone buy them and take a pic so i can decide if I want them :p

or more seriously, someone with photoshop skills could put them on a 124 and give us an idea.

I had a go earlier and it looked ridiculous. It wasn't a very serious effort though.

Sorry I'm really fussy.
Those dont look that great to me.
Iwas looking more for ones like these.

I've seen them for sale on every ebay site bar UK.
You can buy them in Japan but still LHD only ???

Good question,
They must surely be converted to pass the MOT?

My Brothers 1968 280 Still has tape on the headlights (LHD), replaced twice a year since it was imported over here!

We intend to find a better solution!

On a W124 I thought the solution would be a simple as changing the glass. Since I believe thats what determines the direction of the light.

With clear lenses the light is focused/directed with the reflector (as with the car captainb attached)

The glass is different, so is the reflector. You only have to take a peek at the EPC to see this.

Putting tape on the headlamps just knocks the top off the beams, reducing the light output to avoid blinding oncoming drivers but is not really an acceptable long term solution nor potentially legal.

Besides, you'd look pretty dumb driving around with those projector headlamps covered in tape!

The projectors in the other thread are RHD though .... you wouldn't need tape would you ?

No, they'd be fine, assuming they are genuinely RHD :)
