I wonder if folks could tell me if this is serious.

Sitting in a queue of traffic this morning I looked at the dashboard and the battery light had come on along with the abs, washer and lamp broken warning lights. The engine was still running but it had a slightly different tone and when I pressed accelerator the lights went out and what I can best describe as a whine went away. It did this 4 times in the space of 10 minutes, the last time the lights went away when I moved the cars gearbox from drive into park. Does this sound like the loom starting to play tricks or summat else.

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

Paul

1. the belt might be too loose because the tensioner is not working properly and therefore slipping on the alternator pulley.

2. The alternator regulator is going bad. (can be purchased seperate from alternator)

3. The voltage regulator relay in the car behind the battery is sticking

4. the battery is low on charge and old

Many thanks, the alternator is under a year old as is the battery, not sure on the belts it's due a service so i'll get this checked out.

Thanks

Paul

Could be as simple as a broken earth strap somewhere.
