W124 Estate - Roof stripes

Another question to keep all you W124 guys busy

How are the roof strips fixed to the car

It looks as if the end pieces should lever off and maybe the strips would them slide off as if they were on runners screwed to the car.

But I think that I read on a Forum that they were "bonded" i.e. stuff on the roof.

I want to get the roof resprayed on my Estate....and I am going thru the "how should I take off stuff stage"

I am getting into W124 "mild" restoration mode

Double sided tape, no other fixings. The taxis in Sorrento have none fitted so I fancied the same when I resprayed my first 124T. Only, I didn't make a very good job of preparing the marks left by the tape and they left a faint shadow in the paint surface. Hey-ho.
