W124 Pickup

Pity the rear window looks bodged, otherwise quite a decent conversion!

  Sorry, not for me. definately a marmite car.

It would do me lovely to pop down to Wickes for a DIY weekender

The car belongs to PC Merc centre. I believe they've been trying to sell it for the past few years!

I was just going to say that the owner must work or own a mercedes repairers or breakers owing to all the bashed and bumped mercs in the background of his pics. :)

No MOT.

I suspect such a chop may require the vehicle to go through an SVA test due to the weakening of the structure.

If the chassis is unaltered, then SVA is not a requirement.

Only this car doesn't have a seperate chassis, it is a monocoque design. The roof structure forms an integral part of the structure of the car, therefore unless it has been structurally stiffened it will be weak.

Such a serious modification must render it outside it's original design specification so it should require re-testing.

Makes you wonder why a specialist MB breaker with enough skill to do the conversion can't get it through an MOT?
