According to the book the K4 power window relay or K24 convenience relay (post 1990), in position F in the relay box, front middle (sorry furthest from the fuses rather ) - seems to be missing in your pic?

Hmm interesting, the windows and sunroof used to work and I certainly have not removed any of the relays?

Confused:dk:

Checked the fuses?

Pre 1990 doesn't have the convenience feature, so the sliding roof has no relay wired in, only the power windows. I have a wiring diagram for that soewhere
Unless I'm reading the relays diagram wrong looks like you have no first gear start relay either, I thought all TE had them

W124 TE300 Relays

Interestingly my cars relay set up does not look much like the diagram, are there a number of different set ups I wonder?

Main question is, if it is not fuses( which I replaced and have checked resistance and all look ok) why do the windows and the sliding sun roof (both failed at the same time) not operate?

Any ideas really appreciated

W124 windows and sunroof not working

Hi all - still needing a friendly guru please to help - any ideas REALLY welcome.

Thanks, Bill

Sunroof relay is clipped to the motor. I am not sure if there is an electric window relay on early cars - if there is, it'll be in the fusebox

I think the convenience relay was an add-on to the existing wiring so it complicates the old wiring setup with a box full of relays

Maybe you should say why you want to find the relay - is there a fault?

Those look like diagrams for a non-UK model. According to the 86-89 diagram there is a relay for the left front window (UK passenger) switch. I imagine this would be because the windows are not powered when the ignition is off

On post-facelift cars the windows are powered off with the ignition off, unless a front door is open. I believe this is done via a door switch and a diode in a plug in the fusebox but I might be wrong…

Some cars have two door switches at the front, some one, and I've never divined why

The main reason I think there is no relay is that the door switches are always live (but see caveat above). Why have a live feed to a switch that directly feeds the motor, and use a relay as well? Makes no sense, and a relay would not be used in that scenario. Unless there is a relay as per diagram 2 that livens up the window circuit…

If there is, I've never found it. But then again, I've never looked for it

To find the window relay will be very simple - pull the relays out one-by-one till the windows stop working. The sunroof relay is clipped to the motor. If they've both stopped working it's either a coincidence (and there are two faults) or a common feed has died

The windows use a switched earth, not a switched live. So the window circuit is always live (see caveats above). The sunroof reverses, just as windows do, and it has a tilt function as well. It might use a switched earth. Which does suggest a common feed has died

See if there are any live pins in the sunroof relay socket when the ignition is on. If there aren't, your live feed has died
