Please PM if you have one or know of one for sale.

One without problems preferred.

Cheers,

That is quite a tall order unless you pay strong money.

Do you have a budget in mind?

What are you prepared to deal with, almost all will have some rust unless they have been loved and money spent?

Which model do you want? 500 is probably the best all rounder, and no SLS to go wrong (like on the 560)

Hi Matt,

I've had three 560's and got away with the sls worry, but I'm happy with anything apart from a 380.

There are a few available on Ebay and Classic Sales or whatever it's called that seem reasonable for between four and six. There was a nice looking 560 described as very good at a recent auction that made 4.5 including premium.

There are minters to be imported from America for around eight to ten, much better value despite the hassle than those for sale in the Fatherland.

Something that's been loved, really.

Hi Matt,

Not at all, I didn't mean it like that!

Good of you to reply.

Cheers,

Paul

Great post and project! Congrat's on all you've achieved, brilliant.

I've been in touch with the vendor of this on Ebay,
1988 MERCEDES 560 SEC AUTO | eBay

if it is as described and it's still available in a few weeks I'll make a bid.

I love smoke silver and brazil interior.

Paul

That one has been up for sale for at least a couple of months already.

Morning gents,

I went to see the blue 500SEC above a couple of weeks ago. I'm no expert or mechanic but from a quick look round it seemed fairly straight, some rust around all the wheel arches and the sunroof and the paint looks a bit tired up close. Couple of chrome bits need attention. Rear parcel shelf was immaculate & rust free (maybe been replaced at some point as it looked very new). All electrics seemed to work & the engine sounded OK although I didn't take it for a spin. Front seats have been re-trimmed at some point, rest of the interior OK but would need a good clean, headlining sagging if i remember correctly. Seems to be priced about right for the work that it needs to bring it up to scratch, but the thing that ultimately put we off was a total lack of history, service book last stamped about 10 years ago and no paperwork/invoices etc to show how it's been looked after (vendor may have this now but it wasn't there when I looked).

Cheers, kitsell

Hi,

Thanks for that info - very helpful, unlike his description! Why can't folk tell it like it is - even if they don't mind wasting your time, they're wasting their own!

Thanks again.

Paul

This car has had Carat Duchalet modifications to the interior, the dash is interesting with its storage flap. It would have cost a fortune back in the day.
