W204 Comand Satnav update

I have the following system and last update.
Comand system, map version 2012/2013 (V7.0) Europe installed.
The head unit has an SD Card slot, can that be used to either install from or just run the latest map from?
Where can I get the latest map version?
Vehicle is a W204 C220

You could either try your local MB dealer or search on ebay (I went the ebay route)

If you have NTG4 (i.e pre-facelift 204, like mine) you need genuine MB DVD's, the last issued update is 2019 so search eBay for NTG4-204 DVD's (not NTG4-212, they're different). However, if your 204 is facelift (IIRC MY2011 and younger) then chances are you have NTG4.5 which requires a PIN specific to your VIN as well as the appropriate DVD's, both can be obtained from MB or certain indies like comandonline in Lightwater Surrey (forum sponsors!). Run your VIN through one of the free online VIN decoders to check which Comand version you have. Avoid non-genuine DVD's as they have potential to brick your Comand system - expensive!!

Went through 3 VIN decoders and can't find anything that mentions the Comand version.

If your car is the facelift W204 then will have COMAND Online NTG4.5.

The pre-facelift model had NTG4 (with the large PCMCIA slot and the pop-up display).

The latest maps data (I believe) is v20.0.

The maps data can be downloaded for free from MB then copied onto a USB drive and uploaded to the COMAND unit in the car (there's a USB port inside the centre armrest). But it's a 50gb download, so you'll need a good Internet connection.

You will then be prompted for a PIN code, which is unique to your VIN - the PIN code can be purchased from MB dealers or from various sellers online. You can also purchase from them a copy of the maps data on USB drive (if you don't want to download at home for free).

How will I know what version of 204 that I have?

Either phone or email comandonline.co.uk with your VIN, they will look it up and advise, they are the acknowledged experts on anything MB ICE related.
