Hi Guys,

Long time lurker, never needed to post until now, hoping you can help.

I have a 2008 c220cdi (w204), pre DPF I believe.

A few months ago the car began chucking out plumes of smoke with the gear engaged and foot on the brake, this was diagnosed as fault injectors and 2 were replaced. I still believe there is an issue as the car will still smoke now and then, not so heavily, but seems to coincide with when its warm, my indy hasn’t been able to replicate the issue so I’m just living with this for now.

Around the same time the car started smoking, I noticed it had reduced low down power, as in you put your foot down and nothing for a few seconds, just creeping until a bang of power like the turbo just kicked in. At first I thought it was just me, but car will barely move from standstill on a hilly road (its dangerous), the same when just reversing into my driveway if I stop it at the point of the incline and try to move. In gear and once rolling, the car seems fine and picks up as normal to motorway speeds.

I’ve spoken to my indy about this, again, he thinks the car is fine but I know for sure it’s not.

The car has extensive history from MB and has wanted for nothing, it sits at around 80k.

I’m not really sure where to take it from here, the indy has checked fault codes and assume its all good, don’t fancy having my pants down at MB – are there any checks a non machinal person can make? I’ve been reading about split hoses, egr’s etc

Where to start??

Best think would be plug it into STAR and get a full Diagnostic check and the go from there, where are you based??

I’m based in west london, read alot about Wayne Gates so called them a few weeks ago - i must have called them on an off day because the chap i spoke to sounded like i caught him mid nap, i had to say ‘hello’ a few times after explaining the problems to check he was still there...anyway, he made a few suggestions but concluded with it may be best to ‘sell the car’ after i explained i’d already spent a few bob on it and didnt want to chase a fix that may bankrupt me - so thats the best indy i’d read about off my list! :)

Any other local recommendations?

Strange... Terry looked after my W203 for a number of years and now after my W204 - top bloke, I can't fault him or his team.

Perhpas you should start by getting someone with STAR run a Quicktest on the car, then post the results?
