Evening guys I've got a w204 c220
I strongly suspect i have a bad rear caliper and I know the front disc and pads are going to want changing in the next few months
So I'm thinking around £300-£350 area?
While randomly browsing around ive found a guy selling a complete 2010 c63 brake set
Discs look like they only done a few thousand miles and full set of brand new pads included.
Granted the calipers desperately need a repaint but that's something I'm more than capable off!
He said he'll take £500 for them! So for the sake of a couple hundred quid over what im going to pay anyway, i'm in!
However will these just direct bolt on? And do I need to upgrade any of the under bonnet part or anything to run them?
I can justify doing them because I'm a "spirited" driver lol, tow a large caravan in the summer and with the 19" wheels theyll look tons better than the bottle tops that are in there now.

Wow that's a long part list lol
I was hoping the knuckles would be the same and the caliper carrier brackets brought everything inline.
One good thing though is he didn't change the brake servo/master cylinder

I've found a site that makes the carrier bracket that enables the c63 brakes to fit the c350!
and if I'm correct the c350 front caliper (although bigger) does bolt straight onto the standard hubs of the lower specs without any modification?
So in theory the carrier bracket made for the c350 will also enable the c63 brakes to fit on my c220?
Can someone please confirm this before i chuck a load of money away lol

Indeed W204 C220 / 250 front brakes have alot to be desired when the rears are 300mm and the fronts are 295 mm !
But they do have magic holes , lol .

With C350 you get an improved 322mm but a much lighter 2 seater SLK has 344mm .

Some years ago a chap did the conversion .

Also, check with your Insurance company that they are happy with the intended modification.

Some do not like modifications but not telling them will potentially invalidate your insurance.

Apart from cosmetics Id ask the question why?.....the stock brakes are more than capable of locking up the brakes and triggering the ABS.....so unless you are planning bigger stickier tyres and suspension upgrades you wont stop any quicker. Possible advantages in cooling if you track your car and maybe a lighter required pedal force if you match the master cylinder to the calipers.....but other than that....

295mm front with 300mm are not good brakes , you really wouldn't like 295mm up front on your E350 CDI .

My dad's old 138 bhp 1.7 derv i40 touring had 320mm up front , can't remember rear but they felt fine .

Now he has a F11 520d and has 330mm all around and it just feels so reassuring and secure .
I'm talking about normal light braking throughout .

To be fair its probably 70% cosmetic but I do have a big 5birth twin axle caravan which is right on the towing limit! (To be honest it's probably a little over the limit once you take in account the water tanks I've fitted)and knocking around the lake district with it id feel a lot more comfortable knowing if I chuck the anchors out they will work.
I used to use a navara to tow it but that's a story for another day lol
Also I know the front disc and pads want changing before towing season and the rear right caliper is sticking so going to be spending a few hundred quid in the next month or so anyway so if it's worth doing it's worth over doing?

As said, don't forget to inform your insurance company 👍
