Hi all,

My OEM HU failed and I've purchased a used replacement. It's identical to the original, even the month of production.

I have the anti-theft code but I'm curious if it needs to be coded to the car via Star/Xentry or because it's an identical replacement from the same model (2017 C-Class) it would work without coding.

Any advice is much appreciated.

I should add that it's the bogo NTG5 HU Entry unit with sat nav (memory card type) and CD.

yes, it will need to go through a process called Initial Startup on Xentry, which will unlock it, update the firmware and send the lock code / etc to Mercedes so it is centrally stored. You will need a new memory card as old one is locked to VIN and H/U serial number

But talk to comandonline.co.uk as your old unit may be repairable and that will be easier and save you a map card too.
