W205 Comand live traffic?

I am trying to get my live traffic up and running on my (new to me) S205 with Comand, but I don't seem to see any traffic data on my maps.

the live traffic subscription is live (till 4.11.19) and I have a small traffic icon on the bottom LHS of the map (v13.2019 mapping). the car icon beside the traffic is red. is this normal?
how do you get the maps to display live traffic information?

Looks normal to me, if you put a route in and there are problems ahead it will read it it out to you what roads are affected at the start. I just leave it to do it's thing but you can use the menu to get info as well. ( Also shows red line on route if traffic is slow)

on my BMW, the RTTI (real time traffic ) used ti show roads in green, yellow, amber and red. does it not do that?

As above that looks normal to me also, I find that the live traffic doesn't really come into its own until you start hitting Motorways/busy routes.

If you go to the NAV screen and look at traffic you can see all the traffic messages. If you are getting none, there may be a need for a s/w update - did you take it for a service a few weeks ago ??? I ask because for about 4 weeks there was a duff software release installed that caused life traffic to see no messages

I am getting traffic messages, but they are pretty basic - I'm not getting traffic delays.. afaik - so I wasn't sure if If the ref car icon was indicating no RTTI , or whether it was the regular TomTom icon & OK. I'll look at it over the next few days & see if it improves.
I only collected my car (second hand) yesterday so just getting to terms with it.

That is your mercedesme connected logo, you can communicate with car via the Mercedes Me app

But there is no delay information... (E.g. +6 min)

I've also got no data connection (but it has never worked?)
Should the connected part work with an on board sim?

It doesn’t tell you the delay just shows red or yellow on the route and adds the delay to your ETA. Must say it’s not very reliable. I go daily on M25 and it regularly shows no traffic even in rush hour. Some times it shows traffic and then it disappears even when you are sitting in it. TBH I clip my phone in next to the screen and run wave as a check. The red car icon means it has found traffic delays I think

if you look at post 2, I had a red car and traffic showing at bottom LHS of screen a few days ago, and traffic info showing on screens and list,
but last night I had no traffic icon on bottom LHS and no traffic info available on Nav Traffic menu... I appreciate the traffic info appears to very poor indeed - and I am using my garmin co-pilot nav on my iphone - as I believe it and it is reliable - I can't believe how poor the traffic info is on the MB Comand system - it looks similar to what I had on my 2014 Pro-nav equipped BMW F31 335xd - but is much poorer.

Mine had no traffic info at all last night. If you go in the ‘traffic’ menu when it’s working the options are available. When not they are all greyed out except the ‘read out all announcements’ or whatever that one says. Mine had nothing last night at all and the M25 was very heavy as usual!

Thanks. that is the same on mine no traffic info last night or this morning - so it looks like possibly a wider issue than just my car then...

The on-board SIM is only 3G in U.K. cars (stupid decision by MBUK if I recall) so the data connection is pretty rubbish, though it does work with Mercedes Me. Not sure I've ever managed to get it working for anything else. I occasionally dabble with it, but pretty much gave up on it a while ago.

The visual traffic live information for delays is yellow dots for slow moving traffic and red dots for queues. It doesnt give the actual delay period,though it will/does recalculate the journey/route timings based on traffic information. When it does recalculate

You will also find some of the instructions to be annoying, e.g. When you are expecting to to effectively turn right on a large motorway, the satnav instruction will say 'Prepare to turn left' as it treats each exit as a separate junction. This is for all roundabouts above a certain diameter (which is something like 300m).

Overall though it's not a bad system, just a bit quirky.

Me too! I noticed the little red traffic square in the left hand corner had disappeared Thursday, when I got stuck in a traffic jam that I could have avoided! To date, still no live traffic updates, not even if you set a destination. I logged on to Mercedes Me today and that hadn't updated since Thursday either so showing out of date data about the car. Could this be a problem with the car's Internet connection perhaps?
