I am about to replace my W205 2015 factory NTG5 Mitsubishi head unit for a Panasonic NTG5.2 model that supports CarPlay/Android Auto. However, I am in need of the anti theft radio code as the unit was purchased from a scrap dealer.

Can anyone advise how to obtain this code since the VIN doesn't match? i.e. not through a dealer.

It is possible. You need the chassis number of the car it came out from. Otherwise its impossible.

If I understand correctly, then you are trying to replace an early Audio20 NTG5*2 unit that does not have native support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, with a later unit, that does?

Do you have the SD-Card reader unit and the wiring harness from the donor car? And do you have Vediamo for coding? Also, you're aware that you'll need a new Garmin Map Pilot SD-Card if you want to be able to use the car's own navigation (unless you'll only ever be using navigation apps via CP/AA)?

As for the anti-theft code, Comand UK in Lightwater can almost certainly sort it for you, but I'll imagine they'll want to see a proper paper trail to demonstrate that the replacement unit is legit ("I got off eBay" will probably won't cut it).

That's correct, I had the Audio20 NTG5 HU by Mitsubishi, rather than the newer NTG5*2 Panasonic which supports AA and CarPlay. I changed the HU, card reader/multimedia hub, re-pinned the wiring and then configured the HU software. Actually it was pretty easy if you have the right tools and prepared to do some research! :)

Btw, I got the anti-theft PIN code from RapidRadioCodes. It costs £15 if you write to them by email.

May I ask if this is cheaper than getting a retrofit or an android screen?

10.25" Android units for NTG4.5 and NTG5x widely range in price, and also they can be very cheap if bought from Ali Express (meaning no UK-based warranty). But certainly the entry-level Android units will be cheaper than replacing COMAND with a second-hand unit.

Having said that, the 10.25" Android unit does not replace COMAND - instead, it's a bolt-on unit that runs in addition to COMAND - I.e. the old faulty COMAND unit remains in the car, it's only the screen that gets replaced.

Thanks for your response. I am looking at a 12.3 inch at the moment.
Plenty of options out there with mixed reviews.
