I have a 2001 CLK 320, which I love.
I recently got a great deal on a very low mileage 2002 CLK 320 - which is low emissions compliant.
Now, the 2002 is having gear box problems. When I plug it into the scanner the scanner cannot communicate with the TCM (where it can on my 2001). I swapped the TCM from my 2001 and comms was fine, but the gearbox problem is the same - but now engine management light comes on to flag this.
The challenge...... the 2002 had a different part code for the TCM than the 2001. The 2002 has part code 0305452332. The 2001 has part A0275450332.
The only reference to the 2002's 0305452332 seems to show it is from a W210, not a W208. SO I bought one of each from ebay. These both behave in exactly the same was as the original 2 TCMs. (ie New 0305452332 doesn't talk to the scanner, new A0275450332 does and bring on engine light).
So...
1. How can I find out what TCM should be in my car? (Is there an online part code finder based on VIN for Mercedes like there is for BMW?)
2. Does the TCM need coding?
Thanks for reading!
