W209 Cam chain.

At what mileage should the can chain be changed? The vehicle is 21 years old but has only covered 60k miles.

There is no age or mileage requirement for changing the Camshaft drive chain. If it isn't noisy or rattling at start up then leave it.

Depends on engine (again VERY important initial info missing...) If it is M271, I would change it 30-40k

Why?....if its not rattling at cold start....or any other time.....then its fine. Halve the OCI and it could outlast the rest of the car.

Two of ours cars have M271 engines. Both are over 20 years old. The indie who looks after them (well known to many on here) advises changing the oil frequently and dont worry about it unless noisy on start up.
