Have you tried lubricating the moving parts with a bit of white grease or spraying some silicone/PTFE based spray? Sounds like your motor is struggling??
I have exactly the same problem. I have checked everything but the system is just dead and the power trunk motor wont even run. I believe you need star to re-code the controller to the system for it to work correctly ... sadly I dont have STAR!
