E250 CDI (C207)
Hi Everyone!
Merry Christmas to you all!

Quick question:
I am just about to buy an estate W211 E280 V6 Cdi
It is after faclift model. 06 plate.
I read that facelift models are much more reliable, but for sure all of them?
I am concern that early 06 models are still without all of those 2000 improvements.
Or am I wrong and ALL facelift models are with all the improvements already?

Thanks very much for all your replys .

Best wishes.

Martin

Hi there, we have an 07 320 cdi V6 engine which I believe is supposed to have the same basic engine and updates so hopefully yours won't have the earlier brake set up or radiator woes. Someone will be along shortly with the specifics but it might be worth checking on any stored fault codes through Star.

Nothing to worry about, assuming the car has been maintained correctly. Radiator problems (search Valeo on here) are way before that. From late 2004 iirc all 211s are fully galvanised. Post facelift the big mechanical change is losing SBC, the pump of which can cause problems. The 280 CDi is a lovely engine - exactly the same as the 320 but tuned to a touch less power, but IMHO it really suits the car (I ran one -pre facelift - for five years without major problems). The only other things I would suggest are to test drive to check the box drives smoothly - most are fine but some people don't get on with the 7speed box - and just ask about turbo seals - they can go and are a pig to get at, sitting low down between the cylinder banks.

Always worth getting the car a once over from a trusted Indy if you go ahead. Ollie at PCS in Horndean (blackC55 on here) comes highly recommended by me and others if he is within reach of you.
