Hi guys,

it is right time to replace main battery..I know i know, this question probably been asked xxxx times here..but still, please, i need advice.

Main battery replacement - what i was able to retrieve when checked currently installed main battery in a boot - genuine MB, 70AH, VRLA..label worn off - this is much as i got here..

So guys - i am very confused, i want to ask few questions to clarify something;

Should i look after exact same 70AH - or it can be bigger, 95AH,100AH etc.?
Current battery is genuine MB - "VRLA"..i researched what is it..question is, should be VRLA type all the way - or, can be something else?

Any comments welcome, please guys give me a hand here.

Thank you.

most are 70ah, some higher spec ones are 90ah due to the toys onboard.

an 04 e class isnt a high value car anymore, just lob in a decent ish quality 70ah battery and enjoy the car.

Thank you for your replay;

you mean - any 70ah battery which fits regarding size, if it fits? or VRLA one.please?

Thanks

P.S. it is still very great to drive this car after so many years :)

70AH sounds much too low for a 320cdi.
Mine's something like 100AH.

Well, mine 1 is "half full" i believe..at the moment, sitting on genuine MB, 70AH one..

VRLA means it's a valve regulated battery which in normal use will not vent. Presumably chosen because you don't want hydrogen gas in the boot space. A VRLA can also accept a higher charging voltage which if the car is set up to provide might make a conventional battery gas - which you don't want in the boot space. At the very least I would check the charging voltage and ventilation provision before choosing a conventional battery.

My 211 is fully loaded and has a 100ah battery

Also a nice 211 will always be a high value car.

Just installed an Enduroline 019 AGM, it's 100AH. That's the closest and cheapest to the original MB one I could find. Although there are differeing opinions, the car is supplied from new with AGM batteries front and rear. Having said that, mine has run on a 70AH standard wet battery for the last year, but it wasn't up to the job AH-wise.
