I had an X pipe fitted to my 211 55.

From what I remember, by mixing together both sides it creates a more "burbly" sound at a bit more volume than standard.

They have a sort of H pipe as standard but it's a bit pony.

I had headers done at the same time so I couldn't comment on the difference of just the X pipe but I was more than happy with the results.

Would I do them over? Yes.

Would have preferred C63 or CLS back boxes and possibly racing CATs but never got round to it.

Not sure what the 211 63 sounds like but I presume somewhat similar minus supercharger sound.

It has a

LOL - I am very temped and its not much money either

I'm of the same idea as you are. Will be really interesting with how you find the X pipe fitted over say stock sound.

I have read the N/A 6.3 can go X pipe or have straight pipes fitted where the resonator was in place. I have also read to just lose the secondary cats and leave the resonator in place.

I done a fair bit of modding on the 55k regarding Exhaust and got the perfect tone in the end for my liking. Albeit without adding headers which I think would have been even better.

I kind of fancy straight piping the resonator. But I have read it's not a perfectly balanced flow. I really like the stock sound but like you have said I think it could sound even better with modding the resonator/secondary cats.

Zero drone is a main factor for me with it being the family bus and all that.

I'll be paying close attention to with what you decide on. Good luck with it. And post some videos if you can, once you have the mods in place. :thumb:

I think there is a bit of difference in sound between the exhaust systems on the W211 and W212 E63 6.2's Tom.
The Biturbo doesn't have secondary cats and you may find the 212 6.2 doesn't either? Doesn't look like it on the image below.
B49212000154.110614.pngWhatever, straight piping a resonator removal sounds great on the 5.5 so should sound as good, if not better on the 6.2
I've heard a few C63's with secondary cats and resonator out and straight piped and its loud:D

Thanks for the advice and info Roger. :thumb:

Have you had the X pipe replace your resonator Roger? Do you think straight piping the resonator would be to loud for every day use on the W212? 5.5 or 6.2.

Mine is straight piped Tom. Its loud on a cold start and when you accelerate but otherwise a nice burble, especially on the downshifts.
I was supposed to have an h-pipe fitted on the recommendation of daveenty but there was a misunderstanding and Imran straight piped it before I could get it changed. I'm extremely happy with the results though.
You do have to remember that the stock W212 6.2 n/a sounds different (and better yes:D) to a stock 5.5 but I'd bite the bullet and have the resonator removed and either an h/x pipe put in or straight piped. You'll love the result.
Just remember to bring the resonator home with you in the event you want to go back to stock.

That's so weird Roger, I was looking up Straight piped W212 and I have seen your video Wow the Beast sounds crazy lol. Your neighbors must love you lol :D:D.

Honestly your car sounds amazing, fair play. So just have the resonator straight piped. I think you have made my mind up for me :thumb:

I will indeed bring home the resonator. Thanks for the advice. :thumb:

I still remember the chap off here took his E63 6.2 over to Acid when I first started going there, just to make it louder, and ended up with the works.

Jeez that things was f-ing loud!

Taught me to leave the standard back boxes unless I wanted to go deaf and have drone...

That good huh? :D

made the mistake of messing with back boxes on an old S8 I had.......big mistake! Put them back pretty quickly as had an awful drone - sticking to X-Pipe only on the E63
