Hi all,
After water leaked into the back of my estate the Sat Nav stopped working, the fault message being 'navigation system not available'.
There doesn't seem to be any power to the unit, which of course means that I can't eject the disc to re-boot it either, I've removed the unit, thoroughly dried it so that I'm confident it's completely dry inside.
I've checked all fuses which seem to relate to the unit (none of them had blown). But having refitted the unit, there still doesn't seem to be any power to it and of course the same error message is displayed.
Does anyone know if it has an internal fuse, or maybe I have to accept it's unrecoverable?

Check with a digital multimeter the power and earthing to the unit before condemning it.

Thanks for the advice Merc owner 2b......looks like it's dead I'm afraid.
I've been trying to locate a used replacement, but the only ones I can find are in the United States!...... Do you know if there is any difference to uk parts, in other words, if all the part/reference numbers match does that mean a USA unit will be ok in my car?

Sorry, I'm new to this, just realised the message was sent from E270 Owner.....Thanks

If the rest of the audio system is still working then there is power going to it. If it were totally dead then the fibre optic ring would be broken and you wouldnt be getting anything on the navigation screen at all, including audio.

The navigation processors have a retail cost of around £3000 from Mercedes. We sell them brand new at £949. You will need a new navigation to go with it as the new drives only read the newer disks.
