Hi Guys

Was just wondering if anyone had a brochure they could upload somewhere for the W211 facelift (2007 onwards), currently looking to purchase a high mileage example and I can see a lot of executive spec ones but struggling to decypher what the difference is when compared to Avantgarde, once I know I can see if its worth paying the extra.

A friend of mine did have an Avantgarde so I know the Xenon headlamps is one difference but not sure if there are any others, e.g. the ambient lighting, advice would be appreciated as really want to purchase in the next 2 weeks :)

First brochure after the facelift is here (PDF), but note that the Executive spec is newer than the facelift — I thought that was a W212 "innovation"…

Brilliant thanks for providing that, whats strange is it doesnt list "executive" as a trim/spec, if I search on autotrader for example you get quite a few results that specify "executive", e.g. this one: MERCEDES-BENZ E CLASS E220 CDI Executive 4dr Tip Auto Saloon for sale in Bradford | Auto Trader (57 plate).

PS above link is just a random result from autotrader to show as an example, looking at the brochure you provided it looks like apart from Xenons and a little chrome etc theres not much difference between elegance and avantgarde, I thought the Avantgarde may have more gadgets etc unless i'm missing something... Executive looks pretty similar to Elegance but still pretty confusing.

I know on parkers.co.uk you can compare specs - it's obviously reliant on them getting their facts right but might be useful?

Try this link

Also, I can tell you what a 2007 avantgarde has/hasn't as that's what we've got:)

Gadgets: not really. Xenons and lower suspension — the rest is mostly trim differences: wheels, blue glass, white dials, grilles and fog lamp surrounds.

Looks like the Executive was a mid-life trim update. There certainly weren't any 06/56 ones when I was looking, it was strictly Classic»Elegance»Avantgarde (with Sport on the top for the V6).

Thanks guys, sounds like theres not much diff at all then which is surprising.

I might look at the exec then if it has the little goodies like ambient lighting etc, only other thing was bluetooth telephone which I think it has.

One last question, how often should the service be when I'm looking at the service book?, current car needs a service every 12.5k miles.

I recently purchased a E220 Avantgarde with 100K on clock. I knew I wanted an E class with that mileage and had looked at a few Elegance's. Hated the wood-effect trim in the Elegance (to the point where I figured I'd replace it) but was pleased to find I really liked the Avantgarde trim.

There is a fair bit off difference with how they feel.

The Exec is a fairly basic spec... You will notice no chrome accents on dials and instruments.. The dash has that orangey coloured wood etc etc.
I find a lot of chauffeurs go for the Exec spec.

That is true, the orange wood does look a bit like someones put too much fake tan on, not sure whether the AG is worth spending £1k extra on though (which is the case at the moment with the 2 cars i'm looking at)

Ideally my plan is to upgrade to the W212 in a couple of years time.
