Anyway my fix for the usual w211 broken opening damper on the glovebox.
The flimsy plastic lug had broken off the glovebox where the loop from the damper connects.
So, take of the dash side panel by prising open carefully with screwdriver.
Take out first torx screw along from the end holding the trim under the glove box. This allows your hand in underneath.
Look in the end of dash and you see the plastic finger which the lug has broken from.
Use a small drill bit in you drill and you can reach the plastic finger through the end.
Drill hole near the end of finger just through that one side.
Screw in a small screw - I used a 3.0 by 14mm Roundhead screw. Wrap a narrow strip off insulating tape round under the head of screw before putting in and screw in up to the tape.
Reach in underneath and put string loop from damper over the screwhead.( tape will stop screw thread from damaging the loop.
Job done.
