That's my old E500! Lovely car. Sold it 6 years ago.

I think with 5 children you might need to sell one or two to pay for the fuel though!

Hi, im not worried about the mpg tbh, the car would only get ocasional use roughly do around 3,000 mile a year. the T5 can return anywhere between 20 mpg and 35.

Ive had a 1985 w126 500 sec,420 se also 380 sel all if driven sensibly returned reasonably mpg.

Thanks for the replay btw ;)

Air suspension?

Did this car have Air suspension or normal coil spring set up? its a elegance model. ?

One of the photos in the ad shows the Airmatic control in the centre console, just below the gear selector

Airmatic

Hi thanks for the reply, im new to the later merc's 2000- i hear airmatic can be a reliability issue? how do i know if its working ok?

It's elegance spec (wheels and wood) but with everything an E500 should have.

It has three settings, which are comfortable, firm and sporting (can't remember the exact names but you scroll through them on the selector) and sports should be very firm and body control noticeable. The ride should tell you if it is working or not, but it's very expensive if it goes wrong.

Its far more reliable than the hydraulic ABC but if it does fail will be more expensive to replace than standard shocks. There are a number of suppliers of recon units now and that cuts the cost significantly. I wouldn't let it put me off a car so equipped. The advantages far outweigh the disadvantages IMHO
