Does anyone know what socket I need for undoing the lower control arm it’s the one with the four connections. The nut looks like a female torque bit?

Sounds like you need to invest in some decent tools, it will not be a nut it's a bolt.

You need torx sockets. Screenshot_20230401-125841.png

Sadly I do have quite a good selection of tools, but they are stuck in the house with the ex. So need to get the correct size socket for this application without buying a whole new set

You can use conventional sockets on those....but 6 pointed ones grip better than the usual 12 pointers. But s good set of Torx sockets (male and female) is vital for working on most modern cars.
