W212 - Command Screen off by default

Hi,

Recently the Command screen doesn't turn on when the car starts. I have to press the 'ON' button every time which I haven't had to do previously. I leave the screen on when turning off the car so would expect it to be on when I start it back up, which it has done in the past.

I'm wondering if it's something to do with the colder weather and short journeys?

I've had a look through the manual and online but can't find the answer.

Can someone with a W212 model at least give it a try to make sure I'm not going mad!

Had that a few times and not thought anything about it. Just used switch it on. Did have recently where it did not come on at all. Eventually found out that the cure was to force a software reset by disconnecting the battery, pulling all the relevant fuses, COMAND, phone, cd changer etc, leave for 15 minutes reconnect turn ignition to position 1 leave for 15/20 seconds and then 2 and start. Hey Presto it came back on much to my relief as I was worrying. Haven't had the problem of not switching on with the key since.

For anyone else who experiences this issue it's down to the condition of the battery. I had a long commute (500 miles) and ever since the command has turned on when the car starts.

Prior to this, for the past month or so, I've been doing short journeys to and from work (8 miles round trip) so in this cold weather the battery must be below the threshold to allow the command to turn on with the car.
