E220 CDI 2016 Night Edition
Hi all,

This is my first post on the forum and unfortunately it’s one looking for some help..

Car is - Mercedes E Class E220 CDI 2016 Night Edition Premium, UK car.

I’ve recently had a string of faults pop up on the car out of nowhere telling me

‘Collision Prevention, Assist Plus inoperative’
‘ESC inoperative’
‘Pre-Safe unavailable’
With the ABS and handbrake light flashing every now and then - not every time I drive the car. The speed on the dials has dropped a couple of times too. I was stopped at a set of lights and it wouldn’t go in to drive this time last week, this has only occurred once.

The fault codes from the diagnostic tool my friend has are as follows-

U012200

U110D00

U041600

U045A00

B210F00

If anyone has any ideas on where to start with this one would be greatly appreciated. We’ve disconnected the alarm siren as when taking it apart, it was all corroded. I’ve had the front bumper off to check the sensors and connectors and found no real issues.

Kind regards,
Dan

It could most likely be an ABS wheel speed sensor , they throw up those warnings, get it checked on Star ( by MB specialist ) or at least on a scanner that can read MB codes specifically, should tell you exactly what the problem is and which wheel, if it is a speed sensor, not an expensive fix.

Thanks for the quick response mate appreciate it. My pal who read the codes down actually had another Merc in the garage which that specific fault on, it was pointing to the front left wheel. I should have mentioned, when doing an initial read it pulled a tonne of CAN related errors.. only the ones listed above stayed on after a reset.

Could just be battery (s ) low , Mercedes seem very sensitive to low battery voltage , how ever am sure more expert members will offer some better insight 😀

That was my thinking exactly! I’ve actually changed the battery out in the process of this fault finding.. seemingly it was on its way out anyway

Anyone got any other ideas on this? Power steering went off today with an array of lights on the dash 😭

As mentioned above, most likely a wheel sensor but you seem to have discounted this - any particular reason?

It was because the garage I was at had another E class with a wheel speed sensor fault and that flagged on his diagnostics tool, where as I didn’t have one when scanned.. could this possibly still be the fault?
