w212 om651 dpf problem what can be causing it

Latest model is MB2 V2 and it will force regen your DPF unit on some units. Unfortunately, not mine, W212!
That is what I have; for total accuracy it is designated as "MB V2.00" but you need to be careful forcing regens unless absolutely necessary.

I would like to be able to keep an eye on the soot levels in the DPF, form what i can see the icarsoft can measure this going by your previous post's, i this the case? Would I be correct in thinking the icarsoft has more functionality for Mercedes than the Wurth unit I currently have.

I have never used the wurth so I cannot comment on it but I would expect that the icarsoft is better as it is a dedicated MB unit.
There is no problem in viewing the soot content on the icarsoft, even while driving, but do not forget to unplug it when you are leaving the car.
The cable is a bit of a nuisance due to the location of the OBD port but if you are careful you will not get snagged on it.

As an aside, my car never passes 3g of soot. However I decided not to add dipetane to one fill just to see what happens.

On that occasion the soot content went up to 4g for the first time and when it did the passive regen the soot only reduced to 2g.

Put my dipetane back in and I am back to a max of 3g and a reduction to zero on a passive regen.
