- E250, W212, Petrol, 2013
Hi guys,
I've had my W212 (petrol, 2013, face lift) for almost 8 years now.
I spent a weekend driving the W213 (diesel, 2021, face lift) and wanted to share my experience!
I mean no disrespect to any W213/W212 drivers, this is merely an opinion.
Aesthetically the W213 looks good inside and out, but that's no surprise, it's newer. The 220d engine, smoothness of the gearbox, the suspension, the drive itself - I felt was definitely superior compared to my W212. Not a massive surprise though, it's 8 years newer.
BUT (the bad bits)
I can't stand those annoying and unresponsive touch control buttons on the steering wheel (they will drive you mad), the infotainment system (massive lag), the infotainment touchpad, the cabin feels much smaller, the position / layout of the buttons all feels unatural/uncomfortable, the visibility from the windscreen, the quality of the leather on the seats, the cabin roof feels lower - I kept bumping my head (I'm 188cm). The boot, although on paper it has the same capacity as the W212, looked smaller - maybe smaller aperature?
I can't believe it to be honest. I felt like I could breathe again when I got back into my car, and it's not just a case of liking familiarity!
Wonder how others felt moving from a W212 to W213 (facelift)?
