W212 Windscreen top seal rubber

Folks,

I’ve recently bought a new (to me) Mercedes; a 2013 E63 saloon.

This replaces my R230 SL and suffice to say it’s as different as could be! I’m really enjoying the car so far and as is always the case I’m slowly working to get any minor niggles/cosmetics sorted.

When I was cleaning the car I noticed the rubber seal above the windscreen was not consistently fitted across the width of the car - in some places it sat up sealing against the leading edge of the roof, in others it was tucked under. As the majority was ‘under’ I did the same with the rest of it but now not sure which position is supposed to be correct?

Hopefully the pictures will better illustrate what I’m trying to describe and I’d appreciate any views so that I can be sure I have this fitted and seated correctly.

I‘ve looked at loads of images online but can’t see the area in close enough detail to compare.

Your last photo looks like the same as my windscreen rubber in photo 1. The seal is tucked under the glass.

Looking at your pictures it looks as though the edge of the rubber is sitting ’up’ against the front of the leading edge of the roof; in contrast mine is tucked under.

Given it was 50/50 it looks like I’ve picked wrongly!
