W213 E63 20" alloys on W212 E63

Right for those who are in the know. I've looked on the alloy fitment guide and I'm still lost .

Currently have the OEM alloys on my W212 E63 AMG. On the standard tyre setup 255/35/19 & 285/30/19

Been looking at having them refurbished before I replace the P Zero's for some PS4S, however seen a full set of W213 AMG alloys for sale for not a lot more than the cost of a refurb.

Question is, would they for. Seller states they are part number A2134012900 which I assume is off the W213.

Front 9.5j et25
Rears 10j et55

If the alloy fits, second question is what would the best tyre size be.

Any help would be great

To be honest, I'm not sure what I'm looking at yet I think fronts will poke out too much as I've currently got 15mm spacers on the front and they are close to as far as I'd like to go. As for the rear it seems they would be ever so slightly to close to the strut and I'd be concerned on rubbing the tyre and knocking.

The consensus on US forums seems to be that the rears will go but the fronts are "pokey".

The other consideration is whether you want to be running 25 profile tyres on UK roads.

If you remove the 15mm spacer on the front you are currently running, the new wheel will poke out only another 3.4mm than your current set up. (18.4 - 15)
Put that spacer on the rear (unless you are already using one) and the rim will be 5.6mm further away from the suspension strut. (15 -9.4) The rears would poke out 18.4mm more than current stock set up.

If you are already using a spacer on the rears, adding another 15mm one isn't what I'd be prepared to do.

Et25 on 9.5j wheels will poke out at the front. On the rears, I think you'll need between 12 to 15mm spacer on 10j et55.

I currently have an aggressive square corner set up all round with offset et38 10j. No spacers. Car is lowered too, this is the deflated position.

I'll definitely be looking at 18s when the right E63 comes along. Might even look at a set of 3pc splits for resilience - no point welding when a new barrel is only slightly more expensive.

I think 18" wheels would look a bit small for what is fairly a large wagon, just my opinion though. Why not keep the wheels you have, they are really nice and just get them refurbished and perhaps consider some lowering springs and links for the rear. Photo below has stock 19" AMG wheels lowered suspension

They'll be about the same as your current set. The width is the same, but 12mm less offset vs the 15mm your spacer provides.

They ride so much better on 18s. The 212 63 is steel sprung up front and with the 19” wheels is a very jarring ride on anything but billiard table smooth road surfaces.

I liked my 212 E63 wagon but the ride comfort was definitely a trade off for the improvement in driving dynamics vs. the 211 AMG cars.

I ran some optional 18” wheels with winter tyres for a few weeks and it was significantly improved, not sure if 20” wheels would be a good idea on UK roads either tbh.

The pre-facelift 212 63 cars or the 63S models have stronger, more expensive forged wheels. I think the cast alloy ten spokes on the facelift cars were prone for cracking which doesn’t surprise me.

You must have had some very soft cars to describe the 212 ride as jarring. The ones I've driven (most on 19s) have all been rather softer than the cars I've owned recently!!!

My 350 ran on 19’s for its entire time with me and I’d like a fiver for how many passengers remarked how unbelievably serene it was to travel in.

I’ve had quite a few MBs (including several AMGs) over the years and owned/driven plenty of other cars.

The comparison I make to the predecessor (211 AMG cars) I feel is quite valid - I’m sure anyone who’s owned or driven both would agree the ride quality is significantly better

Have you driven an E63? I suspect the AMG suspension setup (ride height, spring rates, damping etc) is a little different to regular W212s even look-a-like ones with AMG styling etc. and the 19” wheels takes that a step further with very low profile tyres too.

Agreed, for both AMG and non AMG. I had a 212 loaner when my 211 seized a water pump, both AG spec. The 211 was definitely better at the magic carpet effect but the first sign of some adventurous cornering and it turned into a boat, where as the 212 felt far more willing to get its boogie on.
