W213 E63 sale mystery.

When I bought my '63 (or any high end car, for that matter) I compiled a spreadsheet of cars for sale on Autotrader and eBay, and tracked them over time, up to a year if possible.

That is the way to really nail down inconsistencies and anomalies. You can see when the same car pops up again with a different seller.

If you just wade in and buy one, cash in hand, you're looking for trouble IMHO. Glad the OP is doing his due diligence. This car has quite the history

That's the way the motor trade can work.....not necessarily a reflection on the car. We used to have a 90 day policy.....if any used car (with one or two exceptions) was not sold within 90 days it was disposed of through the trade (either the block or local traders) to appear on another forecourt in the country. Usually nothing wrong with the car (more than a bad colour combo or less desirable engine).....but just being a bit too sticky on the forecourt....all down to cashflow. I'm not saying that's the case with this car as I've not looked into its history......
That's my favourite Mercedes interior/exterior colour combo....just ahead of the metallic blue with the same guts. Very pretty!

If a car is "a bit too sticky on the forecourt", there may be a deal to be done. All good information to have in your back pocket when searching.

My SL63 had been for sale for 10 months (with the same dealer) and had dropped in price by £12k when I bought it. Largely due to it being overpriced when they first advertised it. Because I had done my research, I knew this and used it to my advantage.

By the time I turned up, they were very glad to part with it.

There’s a lot of wear (and dirt) on that driver’s seat for 49k miles.
Wonder if the dealer is a barber too.

It's certainly a minefield out there and the longer I look the more info I'm getting.
Some advertised cars have been for sale for well over 6 months now and are either overpriced, rough, Cat S/N cars, low spec or just unsellable. Motorhub, everybody's favourite car dealer in Keighley has a Cat S grey 63 that has been up for sale for what seems forever, similarly a grey Cat N in Brum. At just a couple of grand less than a perfect non Cat car they will never sell for the current asking price IMO.
Luckily I'm in no rush at all and I'm hoping the prices for this model do fall a little over the next 6 months or so.

Well spotted Roger, its definitely the same car 💯 Bank 2 exhaust looks really wonky.

Do you want one with sport seats? Managed to sat in one at recent meet, noticed it was slightly harder compared to w212 and more so compared to S211. Managed to speak to a few owners at Beaulieu too, surprised most had said its very comfortable even on long journeys, so I think it really depends on individual 🙂
I sat in Alps E63s wagon with the sports seats at BOTG this year and they seemed pretty comfortable to me.
I can't remember what the 212 seats were like in comparison now.:(
But that is different to sitting for a couple of hours in them to see how comfortable they are.

I once sold a Vauxhall Cavalier SRi because the seats were so uncomfortable. A 10 minute test drive was nowhere near long enough I found later to my cost.
It's certainly something to think about when the time comes.

I noticed the rear air spring reservoir is located in the rear cargo floorpan area. Seems like MB did away with collapsible space saver spare wheel and opted for tyre sealant and inflator. Wonder if space saver wheel is an option?

Everything about that car and area just screams: AVOID. Like the plague. Thinking of selling mine though if you’re interested but mines an estate.
