Hi,
I've got the e class E220d w213 Facelift and im experiencing very poor fuel economy. Im getting around 350 miles for a full tank driving in town, which is much lower to the preface lift e220d I owned before. The only difference is that this new face lift is running on 20 inch wheels and the old car on 17 inches.

Literally only 10 15 miles of driving after a full tanking the car, the fuel gauge has dropped quite a bit, meanwhile im not doing any spirited driving.

Im also experiencing slight gearbox issues, where the car sometimes delays in up shifts or kind of does one last push with the revs before changing up. Also when in 2nd gear and on around 1000rpm there's a loud rumbling like a manual car when it's about to stall.

Just wondering if this could be to do with my low mpg or if these are normal figures for this car?

Simple questions first: how long have you had the car and how many miles have you put on it?
Trying to understand if it's been a couple of weeks or months....
How many miles on the car
And how long since the car was last serviced?

Currently 23k on the clock bought at 17k, mercedes told me it was also serviced at 17k so I've put around 6k on it myself. All tyres have adequate pressure, I've also tried premium fuel with no change

Have you carried out a mpg check by filling the tank driving until nearly empty then dividing the milage covered by the fuel used?

Assuming you have a 60 litre fuel tank your mpg is around 27mpg if you used all of the fuel which, for a large car driven in London is not that bad that would be an estimate not a proper check.

Just done a full tank and ive managed 420 miles mainly town driving in London with a short 60 mile motorway run. I've calculated and ive achieved 36.72mpg with this full tank.

Do these figures sound normal for my e220d?....
its riding on 20inch alloys too

"Mainly town driving in London"

I would suggest that your fuel consumption is pretty good considering those conditions and especially with the larger wheels and tyres.
