I'm looking into using the PCMCIA slot with a CF card on my W221, and I just want some clarification because it seems some people are running into problems...

1) Would these two items be a good purchase:

and if not, can you recommend anything else?

2) Does the 4000 file / 255 folder limit imposed on MP3 DVDs/CDs still apply here?

Also, is that per screen or total? i.e. can I have more than 4000 files and 255 folders on the card provided that not all are going to be displayed at one time?

Compact Flash adapters should be fine irrespectively of the brand. I would still prefer Sandisk but I've used a non-branded one too.

The 4000 total files limit would apply. This means in practise that you cannot make full use of a 32 GB card. Your CF card choice should be fine.

Man, that limit is annoying. What's the deal with it anyway? Is the 256 folder limit total or nested, btw?

This is from the manual:

File structure on a disc
When you create an MP3 disc, the MP3
tracks can be organized in folders. A folder
can also contain other folders. A disc can
contain a maximum of 255 folders. Each
folder can contain a maximum of
255 tracks and 255 folders. A disc can
contain a maximum of 4,000 tracks.

Each folder can have another 255 folders. I think the maximum number of nested folders was 8.
