Hi,

I have a B180 (W245) with a CVT transmission, and I am experiencing an intermittent issue when shifting from Drive (D) to Reverse (R).

Sometimes, when I come to a stop and try to shift from Drive to Reverse, the gear lever feels blocked or stuck, as if something is preventing it from moving. It feels similar to the safety lock engaged when the brake pedal is not pressed, even though I am pressing the brake properly.

Oddly, this issue is not consistent; sometimes the shift into Reverse is smooth and normal, other times it will not engage unless I fiddle with the gear lever or wait a few seconds. Once it is in Reverse, it works fine—the issue is only with the shifting motion from D to R.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Hello .

As you know This operation has to have the brake pedal depressed to function . How about giving the pedal 2 or 3 presses before moving the selector ? it could be something as simple as a 'sticky' brake pedal switch . 🤷‍♂️

If it were a sticky brake pedal switch, wouldn't I have the issue when going from P to R? I only have problems when going from D to R.
