Hi,

This weekend my c36 started making a squeeking/squarking chattering noise. I listened about in the engine bay and it seems to be the water pump.

Is this a serviceable part or is it a case of replacing the whole unit?

I sense fom other posts that it is probably going to cost about £200 for the part, is it easy to fit? Will I need to replace the quad vee belt as well?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Dave

Thanks Grober,

My car never made a noise after the original post, however it was hellish noisey this morning on the way to work. Just pulling into the car park the noise stopped. I looked under the hood and found the belt has come off.

I cant drive it home so will leave it over night, but I cant see the route of the belt to refit it back on tomorrow.

Has anyone got a diagram of the route of the belt. I just need to get home and cant drive it without the belt on.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Dave

Thanks guys,

I now just have to work out how to get my hands in behind the radiator and fit the belt. Any suggestions or tips on how to fit the belt?

Many thanks
Dave

I dropped the car in to the garage over the road, they identified that the pully idler wheel bearing has completely collapsed. This means the car is beached until I get some new bits.....:(

Silly computer

Just ordered a new belt and pully wheel from my local stealership, for £60+vat, here on Monday (yn)

All fixed and nice and quiet. The mechanic needed a retaining nut as the one on the car had been damaged as the bearing collapsed. That took additional time as it is a silly size and available only from the stealership.

Lovely :D

M8X40 Allen socket head bolt by the look of it on the diagram in post #2 but if its a later model its an external torx type nut E10 AFAIK
Glad you got it sorted and your back to "silent running" ;)

I think he said it was m9 nut, that is why he couldn't source it on the trading estate.
