Annoying telly advert or what!

After having my fill of run-flats, jiggly, bone jarring, filling loosening ride quality and i-drive, I want to return to the Mercedes fold. So I took my 2005/55 330 d to a Merc dealer this weekend to chop it against a used E320 @ £23K

They offered me £14K p/x. Hmm.

I've just put it through the webuyanycar web site and it's come out at a frankly amazing £16.1K. They seem to be selling at the £19K mark on BMW AUC site so a £3K profit isn't bad I suppose.

Has anyone sold their car through these people? Is it that easy?

Any thoughts - Apart from the Mercedes dealer ripping me off that is. They did offer a £500 discount for cash.

Cheers

Think i read on another forum that "webuyanycar" website offers a really good price then further down the line they start knocking the price down for every little defect it may have.
So that good to start price soon comes down
It will be interestin to see what other have heard.

The E class looks lovely by the way

Interesting website -- I have just run my car through it and they offered me £1150 more than Skoda did against a Superb TDi.

Just wonder when they inspect it how much they drive off the price for minor nicks etc...

Just read Aletanks ... so similar to my thoughts -- mind you I suppose you could print off their valuation and show to the dealer...

That was my thought. FWIW, I used the Glass's online valuation service when we were looking to trade in my wife's Cooper S recently as it removes some of the distortion that comes from how much margin the dealer has in the target car and is prepared to let you have (or not, as the case may be). I took the extra step of valuing the target car too for a better idea of whether I was being offered a fair cost to change.

I'd heard about the haggling but the car is pretty well mint

I was planning to email the dealer and show them the email.

Only went in there yesterday, so I might sit tight for a bit yet.

Cheers chaps

I had a valuation for my 7 series at about £18k, which was pretty strong. I actually got £19k from a main dealer buying it in. If the dealer has someone in mind they will pay a little more for an easy turnaround. It just means hitting the phone!

 A Skoda! That is what Maddog did.

I'm sure they are nice cars and all that... What about the GTG's?

Haven't heard from Maddog for a long time either...

And you won't get a blingkey with a Skoda. ;)

They are indeed. I sold a car to webuyanycar last month. When you fill in the details about your car you have to be very specific about any damage to the body work etc as the valuation will be based on what you tell them at the time, so if it doesn't match up to the description you gave: condition, number of owners etc they will knock you down.

If the car has more than 4 owners then Carcraft can't retail it as they can't arrange finance on it, so those cars will get a much lower value as they have to put it through auction.

Where it is useless is for older niche cars, say a e34 M5, corrado's, 190 cossie etc basically anything older than 10 years which is valued by enthusiasts and not the mainstream market.

If you have a mainsteam car you should get a decent price, usually a couple hundered below book/trade in price. It's a very quick way to get shot of a car with no hassle.

At the end of the day if you don't like their valuation, you walk. There is no pressure on you to take their offer.

i just sold my peugeot 206 on webuyanycar.com today. it has bumps, scrapes, scratches and a poor interior. it was a 54 plate 1.1i and they quoted it at a massive 2635 quid. Now i knew i was being optimistic and thought they would really reduce the price when I actually showed it to them. the amount of damage to the car was pretty bad and to be fair i dont think i said all of the details but i still managed to get 2000 quid for it which blew me away :) thats paid for my years worth of insurance for my new merc :)

CRAP!

For my 2005 E350, it came back with £14.8k...

with only 22,000 on the clock.. Oh please!

The CLS55 came to £29,400 I was offered £30k in p/x for a new C63 so Im very pleased with that as I was told it was worth £25k 4 months ago also

And the DB9 is valued at more than I paid for it - yay !!!

According to Jay and others, used car values are on the increase, but for how long?

I came very close to acquiring a CLS55 earlier in the year.

MB of Shrewsbury had a 55-reg stickered up for £26k (about 50,000 miles IIRC). They said they'd be able to do a deal on it.

I held back as we were looking for a new caravan at the same time, and thought it best to buy one or the other.

Now that car looks like the bargain of the century.

For anyone who mercifully has not seen this advert. enjoy  YouTube - New TV Advertisement May 2009
No mention of "Terms and Conditions apply" in the lyrics tho:rolleyes:

The comment that sums it up for me was "'most annoying piece of sh*t since crazy frog" :ban:
