Finally talked my Dad into buying himself a long awaited 'retirement' car (aged 78 and three quarters). He picks up his W204 from MB Direct this afternoon and part or the deal, amongst other things was a full tank of fuel. Most garages in the local area were sold out yesterday by early afternoon. Let's see how far the salesman will be prepared to go to fulfil his promise. Should be interesting

Whilst I was walking to work yesterday the petrol garage close to my home was shut and they reopen in the afternoon. Sadly I had to drive around town looking for others last night cuz I'm travelling to Norwich to pick up mine. Eventually I didn't find a BP that had petrol but not diesel, I suspect it was one that most can drivers use. So I am sure they will be able to fulfil their promise unless he didn't bother filling up till this morning...

Job done...full tank of fuel. Mind you I think several litres got wasted as the car was ticking over for ages whilst the salesman did the two, yes,two hour handover with my Dad. You try explaining all the gizmos on a Merc to a 78 year old. I think I maybe getting lots of phone calls this week like: your Mother is cold and the heater won't work and my Bluetooth is connecting to my pacemaker etc etc. he seems to like indicating with the cruise control stalk at the moment and can't understand auto lights, so be aware if you see an old man doing 90 with the cruise stuck on, an old lady shivering besides him and no lights on

Sounds like a recipe for disaster. Lets hope he is a quick learner as time is probably not on his side, it will only get worse as he gets older. :)

Thats where he learns what kickdown is. Nothing beats leaving some tyre behind at a toll booth and racing the car beside you into a lane:ban:

Not if he hasn't managed to stop on the way through to pay his £1.50 :)

He could just pay £3 next time round.
