Wet windows C Class 93

Hi All, I have bought a 93 C180. The windows in side are constantly wet all round, it smells dank and moldy. There are no leaks on doors or boot so I guess it is a blocked drain on aircon or heater box. The old owner said he used to get wet feet sometimes going around corners, he thought a drain was blocked also.

Does anyone know how to clean out any drain holes , find the bit the water has collected in, and can I get it all out to clean it out without removing all of the dashboard.

Thanks

John

Does the previous owner live somewhere that is known to have flooded recently?
Just a thought.

Welcome to the the forum BTW................

No. Top of a hill. I know the previous owner and the car hasn't been flooded. It smells like bad water to me or moldy air con. There is a general problems with aircon smell from what i have read but is there somewhere moldy water collects if the drains get blocked??

Look below the windscreen under the bonnet for blockages.

Reading through the forum back log I feel I need to grope under the car to find the drainholes for the evaporator/ condenser plate thingy. Also to find the drain holes for the windscreen air intake. Could anyone tell me where to look for these on my 93 c180? The ground is wet at the moment and don't want to grope around for hours before i find them. Also if there is dank water in the box collector tray how to I flush or clean that out? or is unblocking and magic anti bac aerosol do that for me as far as I can go.

Also got a nice worn through seat ( beige cris cros, basket weave type patten). Are pattern seat covers available or is scrappy best option?

Thanks. I know I have many questions. It's a new car and my first Benz.
Regards
john:)

There are 2 holes, one each end of the bottom of doors about the size of a match stick (thickness)

On the bottom of the doorsill (that stretches from the front to the back wheel) I think there are also a drain hole, one each end. A mirror, in daylight is useful here.

Under the bonnet, passenger side, a few inches below the bonnet hinge, there is a rubber “bung” that will hinge open when you pull on it, you will first need to remove the large flat plastic cover about 12 inches square’ish that houses the electronics underneath it. I don’t know if there is another “bung” on the opposite side. It is likely that you will have to remove the trim at the bottom of windscreen to investigate further.

It is possible the water is lodging under the carpet but not saturating the carpet because I THINK? there is some kind of plastic lining between the carpet and floor pan, that would explain the stagnant smell.
